Benidorm is a good place for a holiday with your family, friends or partner on any budget. This city in Spain is located by the sea and is popular with holidaymakers from Europe. Here are five great things to do while on holiday there.

Relax on spotless beaches

Most holidaymakers come to Benidorm to enjoy the soft, Spanish sand and glorious sun. There are many beaches to choose from, stretching from Playa Poniente in the west to Playa Levante in the east, the former being less crowded than other beaches and is suitable for families and couples looking for a quiet place to relax and sunbath. There are several shopping and dining options across the boardwalk area.

Playa Levante is a livelier, tourist-oriented area with restaurants and bars that serve local delicacies and fresh seafood. One nice place to spend a relaxing evening is La Amsteleria, located at the end of Playa Levante near the water skiing attraction. This pub has a self-serve beer tap (don’t get excited, it’s metered so that the staff know how much to charge you! Nice try, though!).

In addition, Benirdorm is full of hotels and resortswhere you can stay both on the Poniente and Levante beaches.

Terrific nights out

Benidorm is also the right place for those who like to dance and drink a few beers on a night time. With plenty of bars and night clubs to choose from, you’ll be spoilt for choice. Why not chill out at the Bahamas, Hard Rock Beach Café, Chaplin’s or Hippodrome Disco Benidorm?

Water sports

During May to October, visitors to the beaches in Benidorm can participate in a range of different activities, including surfing, rafting, water skiing, scuba diving, paragliding and banana boat rides.

Library on the sand

Book lovers should not miss the Biblioplayas. This library on the seafront offers a quiet spot with shade spot to read and leisurely enjoy the ocean (and the classics!) at the same time. The library has a wide selection of books, covering diverse types of literature. The loan period is limited to the opening hours of the library. If you wish to continue reading the same book, you can reserve it for the next day.

Hitting the theme parks

There are theme parks too, located on the outskirts of the town to keep your kids entertained and also for those thrill seekers. The kids can expend some of their unlimited energy at the Aqualandia water park, which has a wave pool, slides, the highest chutes in Europe and other features. If you prefer them to stay dry, you can take them to Terra Mítica, a traditional theme park which is organized into four thematic areas: Egypt, Rome, Greece and The Islands & Iberia Park. Meanwhile, Terra Natura is a 320,000 sqm wildlife and pet-based theme park that allows your kids to get up close to some of its 1,500 animals from 200 different species. The park is divided into four themed areas: America, Asia, Europe and Pangea.
