There are more questions raised here than answers given. First, why would the plane stall? Airliners at cruise altitude fly on autopilot. Going from cruise speed to stall speed doesn't just suddenly happen.. Was the co-pilot messing-up at the controls? Turbulence could affect speed, but usually, it increases it. The co-pilot announced turbulences, but was he really going to have some fun with the plane while the pilot was sleeping? Which brings me to my second point. A co-pilot is a very experienced pilot. Stalls are studied and practiced all throughout a pilot's career, from the private pilot license on.. So, there is very little chance any pilot would have the opposite reaction to the well known stall recovery technique of lowering the nose. Mechanical failure is possible. It wouldn't be the first time An Airbus has software trouble, or loses a piece of it's tail.. In any case, I don't think it was "pilot error," though I do not discount "pilot stupididy."

Well, the website seems to be shut down.
Good Management means to me, if needed you have to reduce staff, but this isn't the right move to attract new customers at all. They look for continuity. I love Mooney's aircrafts, as all (most) of us do.
Columbia Aircrafts dropped dramatically in value as Cessna moved in. Does the same happen to Mooney? Honestly I’m a bit worried.

This is a bit weird.. I have a hard time understanding why the FAA would include their NextGen system and Santa in the same article. Obviously Santa is for children.. What do children care about an obscure navigation system? “We’re proud to say NextGen is bringing Santa Claus to town.” Are you kidding? Just plain weird...

UFO means unidentified flying object. RT reports the US military claims not to know what it is. UFO

New Delhi Chronicle later reports US claims it's a plane. US military - not a credible information source - has always denied the existence of ET spacecraft therefore if not a plane, missile, weather balloon, or swamp gas, it's unidentified. UFO.

It's obviously not a plane, as one can see at :38 in the RT video, there is a bright flame at the head of the exhaust plume, and the object has a skyward trajectory. Compare to any stock footage of a shuttle launch. Experts around the world say it's a missile. Whose missile, is unknown. UFO.

I wouldn't call that a jet-pack. The engine is a regular combustion motor. The problem is no auto-rotation. People are going to fly these too low to open the ballistic parachute. I wouldn't be surprised to hear of a few fatalities fairly early. For less than half the price, one can buy a <a href="http://www.innovator.mosquito.net.nz/mbbs2/index.asp" rel="nofollow">Mosquito Utralight Helicopter</a> or <a href="http://www.google.com/url?sa=t&source=web&cd=1&ved=0CBUQFjAA&url=http%3A%2F%2 <a>Fwww.helicycle.com%2F&ei=XamjTJu5MIKdlgeexbG8BA&usg=AFQjCNHEmzHUqbNBUnt0wzWVs3yf3Ov3tA"</a> target="_blank">Helicycle Turbine Helicopter, both capable of gliding to a safe landing if the engine quits.

This is unfortunately common practice everywhere, and referred to as "Parker hours" in the United States. If U.S. airline pilot's records were checked, I believed we would be in for a big surprise..

I disagree with the author here, on more than one point.
Four engines is not necessarily safer than two. Twice the number of moving parts means more risks of failure of one engine. Moreover, a four-engine plane is going to have a very hard time to stay aloft on two, especially if they fail on the same side.
The new twin-engine airliners have a lot of power and can actually climb easily on one engine.
Sure, the comfort of modern airliners has come down, but for many airlines, it's that or going belly up, not a matter of making more profits. Let's face it, airline tickets are extremely cheap, considering the alternatives. If crossing the Atlantic for $500 seems too much to anyone, they live in a fantasy land. Fat passengers? Easy, charge by the pound, problem solved. The days of luxury ocean liners are over; their customers paid a fortune to cross an ocean, not a mere few hundred dollars. You get what you pay for..
20 years old is nothing for an airplane. Airlines have strict maintenance programs. I feel more comfortable in an older plane that has had all the bugs ironed out than in a brand new one. I probably won't board a Dreamliner until it has flown at least a year..
"Terrorism [a real eminent threat to any one who travels regardless of the particular mode of transport]" Are you kidding me? That threat is practically nonexistent. Terrorists are much less likely to target a plane today than before 9/11. They know passengers won't stand for it, even if it means risking their lives to take the bad guys down. Airport security, while not perfect, is better.
I am convinced that flying is safer than ever, and keeps getting safer. Every accident is analyzed and airplanes are upgraded consequently all the time. What other industry can claim that?

Looking at the school on Google Earth, it seems like there are quite a few empty fields to the East, where a pilot could land after an engine failure. The pilot probably buzzed the school and dynamically stalled above it.

I was pretty excited when I found this. I was wondering when someone was going to build a heli out of the deltahawk. The Deltahawk project seems to be a bit stalled but :/ who knows. If it were me, I'd put my faith in the hands of Subaru's new EE Diesel. The performance claims aren't as staggering but a bird in the hand...especially one with a HUGE development budget is way better than 2 deltahawks in the nest (development). That's a scientific analysis

One thing the article does not mention is, because BSFC is so much lower, the helicopter's range can be improved pretty radically. I'm curious how the added torque specifically affects the performance of the helicopter. I imagine a higher top speed but not a particularly stellar climb rate. Thoughts?
