PORTLAND: Many Oregon soldiers are home on an unexpected two-week leave, but at a high price for their families. Almost 700 guard members purchased airline tickets in the last week to get from Louisiana to Oregon. They had to scramble to buy last minute tickets and some paid more than $1,500 for them. Now some say they’re outraged with the airlines saying they are taking advantage of military families who will pay what they have to, to be together. “A guy called about 20 minutes before I did and got a ticket for $450. I called not even 20 minutes later and they wanted over $1000 for the same ticket!” soldier’s wife Billie Roberts. Full Story.
